Yahoo launches its own browser, Yahoo Axis

Yahoo is all set to redefine the browsing experience with its new’ Yahoo !Axis Browser’. The largest U.S web portal has developed ‘Yahoo Axis’ versions for iphone, ipad and plug- ins for desktop browsers such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Google Chrome. The Yahoo browser aims to simplify the searches by bringing to users a new way to browse by giving the surfers a small preview of the screen at the top of the browser so that the user don’t have to leave the page they’re on while still interacting with query results.

According to Ethan Batraski, head of product for the Search Innovation Group at Yahoo, the browser aims to narrow the Google’s lead. So, the next time you put a query in the search bar you directly go to the page instead of surfing a sea of links. Though it is not entirely true that Axis capers the search results but yes it definitely will give you a better way to go from search results to web page. There are no search links in the Axis but small previews of your search.

In this context Batraski says, When you search on Axis you get a a horizontal display of Web page thumbnails. It’s easy to see if one of the pages is what you’re looking for, and then you can go there directly. To see the tiles again and go to other results, you just pull down the page from the top. To move forward or backward in the list of results directly from a page you’re on, you drag your finger from the right or left. bypassing the results list entirely. So, it can be said that with Yahoo! Axis yahoo aims to give you a better and smarter browsing experience.
